The Modern Honolulu – Japanese and Korean websites

Situated near the Ala Wai Boat Harbor in Waikiki, with ocean views, fine dining, a night club, and shopping available at nearby Ala Moana Center, The Modern Honolulu attracts guests from around the world and locally. To increase direct bookings and gain a greater share of the Asian International Traveler market, The Modern Honolulu asked PRTech to update its Japanese and Korean websites to reflect the wide array of activities and contemporary feel of the hotel. and

PRTech’s multilingual, tech savvy team of web designers, developers, and writers, updated content and then redeveloped each Asian site to make them more appealing to Japanese and Korean travelers searching the property online. The new websites provide additional accommodation details, more forms, a simplified navigational structure, and content that resonates in each unique market, while reflecting The Modern Honolulu’s youthful, yet luxurious image. To encourage direct bookings through The Modern Honolulu’s Asian-language websites, PRTech attached MyRez, its proprietary, multilingual, online reservations booking system—as a means to communicate directly with independent travelers in Japan and Korea.

MyRez, which appears as part of the hotel’s website, enables consumers in Asian markets to learn about The Modern Honolulu in their own languages, while The Modern staff can read and respond to Asian-language reservation requests and comments in English. Among its many features, MyRez translates and utilizes its own concierge service staff to respond in Asian languages. Hotel management also gets monthly reports based on MyRez analytics, which show booking activity and how well new promotions and messaging are working so marketing strategies can be altered as necessary.

PRTech is providing content marketing and search engine optimization to further market the website. “In coordination with Asian-language writers at our sister company, PacRim Marketing Group, PRTech develops content about The Modern Honolulu for Asian-language social media and our MyHawaii websites and visitor guide publications in Japanese and Korean, as well as for numerous popular Japanese travel portals,” said Yumiko Tsutsumi, project manager at PRTech. “The articles provide traffic to The Modern Honolulu’s websites on an ongoing basis and help with search engine optimization.”

“Travelers from Japan and Korea will now see The Modern Honolulu more often when searching key words about Hawaii, especially on Asian-language search engines like Naver Matome,” said Marc Erwin, PRTech’s web analyst. “With increased access to information about The Modern Honolulu and an easier booking process, more Asian travelers will book reservations directly with the hotel.”

PRTech will continue to maintain and monitor the sites, providing client originated updates and unique content to boost search engine rankings and drive direct booking sales.
