Ilima Hotel - Japanese, Korean, and Chinese Websites

Ilima Hotel management recognized the increase in cell phone use for research and hotel bookings by Asian travelers and the importance of the Asian traveler market as a significant portion of its customer base. The hotel wanted to update its Asian-language websites and enhance access to them through mobile devices. While the hotel already had Japanese and Chinese (simplified) websites, it needed a Korean website. The existing Chinese website had no booking engine.

PRTech was asked to develop a Korean language website for Ilima Hotel based on its English website and to update the Japanese and Chinese websites, making them more contemporary and mobile responsive. In addition, Ilima Hotel management wanted to ensure navigational and reservations booking ease for each market. All three new Asian-language hotel websites needed to launch during the same time period.

To meet this challenge, PRTech formed a team of web developers who are native speakers of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. After evaluating client needs and consumer trends, they redesigned the Japanese website first, and used its basic structure for the Korean and Chinese websites. While sites were designed to mirror the Ilima Hotel’s English website, copy was expanded to include more detailed descriptions about accommodations and amenities on the Asian-language sites.

“Conveying Ilima Hotel’s brand essence while tailoring the sites for each Asian market’s preferences is crucial to increasing hotel reservations,” said Yumiko Tsutsumi, lead developer and copywriter.

PRTech attached its proprietary multilingual, online reservations system, MyRez 4.0, to all three websites. MyRez 4.0 acts as a booking engine on a hotel’s website.

From inception to launch, the Japanese website took 8 weeks. The Korean and Chinese websites took 6 weeks.

The multilingual booking system for Ilima Hotel’s websites, MyRez 4.0, has been shown to enhance the consumer experience while increasing hotel bookings and facilitating revenue management. “With the new contemporary and mobile responsive designs, we expect bookings to increase even more year-over-year,” said Noriko Puaa, Director of Operations, PRTech, LLC.

PRTech developed Ilima Hotel’s first website in Japanese in 2003, attaching its original reservations system, which has now been upgraded to MyRez 4.0. PRTech will now manage all three Asian-language sites, providing content updates, monthly reports showing analytics results and MyRez 4.0 sales, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
